Relay For Lifeis a support and encouragement to families and individuals who have been touched by the challenges of living with cancer and in memory to those whose cancer struggle has ended.
Virginia Tech is where we “Relay For Life” every year. VT was the top fund-raiser among universities in 2011, raising more than $600,000, and the student planned and implemented event is an inspiring experience.
This year every person at the microphone began by saying,“Why I Relay...“. The answers included “because of my mother …grandmother …roommate …uncle …father… friend…sister…brother, etc.”
As I look at the energetic, dedicated, youthful faces around me, who will walk, run, and stay up all night for this event, I am struck with the thought that perhaps it will be from this generation that a CURE will be found…

HOPE for a CURE.
Blessings, Hope, and Peace to all individuals and their families who are dealing with cancer.
This past week I have taken a Blog Break…It was not actually planned but just happened that way. The beginning of the new year has found me organizing, re-evaluating, and even playing catch-up outside with yard work on a rare warm, sunny day. The mild winter here in the mountains has made it difficult to believe that it is January! And, I am still having trouble remembering to write 2012, instead of 2011! (I wonder how long that will continue to happen?)
In the studio, along with art work to be done, there are also several writing projects to be finished. Regular writing time is needed to continue these projects. I plan to write more on family and parenting issues. So, while making a work schedule, I am considering what time of day is the best for each task–writing, designing, and creating…
As the process oforganizing and re-evaluatingis being done, here’s looking to a productive and creative year–and a break in the Blog Break!

Today it’s back to the studio…Beginning a new calendar always gives me a feeling of a new start–sense of closure to the previous year and a chance to make changes, adjustments, and achieve new goals. This reminds me of being a child beginning a new school year after a carefree summer break. One time ends, a new time begins, and a transition occurs. With the holidays over and the start of the new year 2012, my schedule returns to a more normal pace. The workspace is organized and ready-to-go. There are a few art quilts to finish, some new ideas to explore, and a plan to re-shoot photographs for my Portfolio and the website’s Gallery page. Spring also brings deadlines for various juried exhibits.
This week Peach Farm Studio nominated my blog for a Versatile Blogger Award and I want to say thank-you to them. I appreciate having Lifeweavings considered. This award is to help bloggers find new blogs. So, while I can’t do all the criteria to pass along this award right now, here is a quick list of some of my favorite blogs to read. You might like them too… (And, this reminds me to update my blogroll/inspiration sites!)

As in the photo above of the vintage English postcard, I may not reach all of my resolutions, or goals, made for the new year, but envisioning things we desire to achieve helps the creative process…
and just perhaps some of those soap bubbles will soar and float in the air!
