When I began writing this blog post, the challenges of the coronavirus had not begun here…so now it has even more meaning!
If you’ve followed my blog, you know its focus has been on “Using Creativity in Everyday Life“. At no other time in my life has flexibility, creative solutions, and novel ways of doing things been so quickly necessary for all people, collectively, worldwide.
I hope this post will offer some encouragement to everyone’s day…

This time of year, when I’m tired of gray winter days (or “stay at home” guidelines!)…during this time of great change…it seems that Nature begins giving hints of brighter days ahead!
The first peek of flowers…
Renewal
A pop of amazing color when I glance out my studio window…
This past summer, I was able to revisit a shop, Ginny’s Fine Fabrics, which I’d discovered for the first time more than 10 years ago. The shop is filled with an amazing array of beautiful, very fine fabrics and notions from all over the World~~
~brightly colored, soft cotton prints from London…
~~nubby, rich colored,thick wool…
~~~& vividly colored, wonderful 100% silks from places such as Italy.
It reminds me of a fine fabric shop like one might find in New York or Paris!
I remembered and dreamed about the painterly, fantastically-colored printed silks on long tubes, filling large barrels, since that first visit! So finally this year, I purchased a half yard of the most beautifully colored Italian silk, whose print looks like an Impressionistic watercolor painting!
Collected beautiful Italian Silk
I’ve enjoyed using 100% silk thread to hand-roll the edges to create a hand-rolled edge silk scarf..The fabric and thread both have a wonderful soft texture, making it great to work with!
This is the type of material that inspires designers to create beautiful garments! And, reminds me of the stories in history when fine fabrics & textiles were considered part of a family’s wealth…
Being a natural fabric made from the spun fibers of silkworms, silk takes on dyes in a manner that creates a unique hand, or texture, to the cloth and vivid, shimmery colors! This piece of fabric is an exquisite 100% Italian silk that is just beautiful…
I look forward to the pleasure of wearing this scarf!
If you love it as much as I do, I hand-rolled the edges of a second scarf made from this wonderful silk~~
