In the Studio~2019!

After a long break from the Studio at the end of the year, with the busyness of celebrating several holidays, birthdays, and family events, I finally find myself back in the studio on a cold, snowy winter’s day….but feeling cozy inside and ready to work! 🙂

Ready to create Art & do Business for a New Year, 2019!…

Choosing fabrics for the backing~~What will blend & complement the “fabric painting”?

I thought you might like to see the process of preparing to finish a design!

“Field at Toledo” is ready for a backing, layering the 3 layers~~top, batting, and backing, and pinning together the layers before the thread-painting and free-motion quilt stitching begins!

The Backing layer.
Layering the Art Quilt~Top, Batting, & Backing.
Pinning all 3 Layers together…
Beginning the threadpainting…  I began by stitching around larger objects in the middle area of the piece, and will work outward towards the sides. Then, more layers of threadpainting and free-motion quilt lines will be added for details and more textural interest!  Stay Tuned!   🙂

Happy New Year’s 2019!

New Year 2018 & Back to the Studio…

What is it about the New Year that gives us Hope to accomplish new exciting things or to change directions in Life and try something different?

For me, it’s like a point in time that gives us permission to change our routines and explore or experiment with new ideas. And, often this Creative approach produces results that we never would have dreamed possible! How freeing…!

Snow Day!

So, I’m back in the studio today…straightening, organizing, and ready to begin new projects…finishing up old ones…dreaming, idea gathering, listening to music, experimenting with materials, playing around with a few ideas. Sometimes it’s difficult to find this place of concentration and flow, but it’s time…

It’s a New Year~2018!
