In the Studio~~Summertime!

Aaah, Summertime! Maybe it’s because I was born in June, or maybe it’s because I grew up mainly in the South…But I feel more like myself when the sun is shining very warmly,

The breezes are gently blowing through the leaves,

“lightening bugs” flash across the green grass at dusk,

and Nothing tastes better than a large glass of sweet iced tea!!  🙂

I spend lots of time reading and working on the front porch,

and only occasionally nap in the hammock!…

I’m thinking up new Ideas!

It is still a magical time for me…that time when the first snowflakes begin to fall.

Each one silently floats to the earth until a thin covering of white touches the ground, the porch, and the trees…As if someone was sifting powdered sugar over the earth.

The lines of the outdoors becomes visible with the sugary coating…the tree limbs, the bushes, the cars, and the old bicycle behind the shed.

While the indoors feels warm and cozy…a safe haven from the elements.

It is a time of quiet, of reflection, of contentment…a time of being home.

***What gives you a time of reflection, which in turn feeds your art…or your life in general?***

Summer Daze?

As Summer arrived, many other events that required my attention did also. Though, this week finds me back in the studio with new goals for the rest of the season. Like everyone, I struggle at times to balance work and family, and am sometimes more successful than others.

But, Summer is spent gathering creative inspirations–new sights, sounds, smells, touch sensations, tastes, and experiences.

What summer activities feed your creative soul and impact your future artistic work?

So far I have been inspired by…

  • planting flowers and garden vegetables…

  • picking wonderful ripe, red strawberries…

  • traveling to other places…

  • spending time with distant family…

  • having impromptu picnics…

  • listening to an informal outdoor music concert

  • sitting in the warm, bright sunshine…

  • eating juicy red watermelon and sweet yellow corn

  • and going barefoot whenever possible!

I will continue these and other summer activities as long as possible…

My regular schedule just doesn’t seem to work on warm, inspirational summer days

or perhaps it is more accurate to say,

I’m just in a summer daze?
