May showers truly do bring May flowers!  🙂
Beautiful, inspiring Colors!!!

May Showers Do bring May Flowers!

Another week in the studio is ending this afternoon…

I have finished layering the ocean scene for “Sea Images” #3! I am beginning to stitch from the top where the edges meet, a section at a time,  which will add design lines and details, using the machine similar to a pencil in a drawing…

Ocean Scene

This scene is going to become the “playground” for a school of “Fractured Fish”!

Another wonderful inspiration~~a pink flower after the rain!

Fractured Fish #2 (2017), Original Art Quilt, Rayon and metallic on cotton. © Joni Beach.

When I had a local ArtWalk exhibit a few years ago, a small art quilt called Fractured Fish #1 was popular with many people! And several Art Prints have been made of this design for Collectors. For the 2nd in the series, similar batik fabrics were used to create a vivid colored, watery ocean scene, but this time with a cool toned purple on a warmer toned background. An abstract fish swims among the swirling colors in the ocean’s depths and even has iridescent bubbles floating to the surface!

There is also a wonderful, fun Christmas art quilt, Santa’s Nighttime Trek, available in time for the Holidays~~Add it to your Art Collection or give as a unique gift to Someone Special!

Happy Holidays & Happy New Year, 2018!! 🙂

In the Studio~

It is a beautiful Autumn day here in the Studio today! I wanted to show you the art that is on the table being finished!

A few years ago, I had an exhibit of many of my art quilts for the local ArtWalk in our town. In deciding which pieces to exhibit, I almost did not include a small stylized image of a fish, called Fractured Fish #1…but at the last minute, decided to add it to the group.

To my surprise. when delivering the art for the exhibit, the host exclaimed over that particular small art quilt! At the exhibit, a few friends viewed the small art quilts displayed over the fireplace mantle and said Fractured Fish was their favorite…Then, a family member, when seeing photos of the exhibit, phoned me to say they wanted that piece! Something about the colors and subject matter made this a favorite!

I am now finishing Fractured Fish #2, which is part of my series, Sea Images…

The pattern is similar, but is in a different colorway of cool toned, bright purple batik on a background of mixed, warmer browns and yellows with blues, turquoise and a touch of rosy pink.

I am using wonderfully rich colored rayon threads to sketch and paint details and add visual depth and texture to this creation…
